Fraser Pettigrew was born in 1963 in Glasgow and led an itinerant early childhood in the mining towns of central Scotland before gaining his secondary and tertiary education in Edinburgh. He left Edinburgh in 1986 and spent the next 22 years in Cambridge working variously in the publishing industry and in public relations, promoting everything from condoms to credit cards, and was once paid to go to Paris with the Tartan Army. He has also stalked the corridors of power in Whitehall, nearly tripping up Tony Blair and being smiled at senselessly by Margaret Beckett. Author of the hibLOG football blog, he has been living in New Zealand since 2008.
